Is there a moment in your life that causes you to blush in humility? How about a hang-up or situation in your life that you’re not so proud of? Well, it’s time to put down the stigma and choose to find the honor in that situation.
I will now speak from the audience of a “single mom”. Life happens to us all, and we are forced to lay in the bed that we’ve created, right? As a result, sometimes that means that we have to own our shame, mistakes, and mishaps and choose to make a better life for ourselves.
As a divorced mother of two beautiful children, I’ve had to acknowledge that I’ve experienced lessons from an unsuccessful marriage, but from these lessons I have gained two incredible children who will become world changers as they continue to grow with the future generation. It is now my duty to hold my head up and find the honor in the midst of the stigma that I might have faced. Every time my daughter brings home a report card with O’s , E’s, and S’s, I’ve gained honor. Each time I buy a book for my son and he reads through it in five minutes as a Pre-K learner, I’ve gathered more honor in the face of my past shame and stigma. I can hold my head up as a proud mother, knowing that a broken situation has now become a beautiful pillar of success that will surpass me for generations to come.
So, if you find that you are in a situation where stigma is present, search the situation and find out where your honor is. It’s hidden within the mess and shame of it all. With time, you will cultivate it and will find joy from the pain, and honor from the stigma. It’s time to hold your head up again!
Here are some tips for gathering Honor from Stigma:
1. Observe the Outcome and Look for the Positive
2. Forgive and Release Yourself for Being in the Situation
3. Own it, the Good, Bad and Ugly
4. Figure Out How the Situation can Benefit Society and Your Life
5. Choose to Set Goals to Bring Out the Honor from the Situation
6. Let Time Heal You
7. Remain Optimistic
8. Help Others with Your Findings
Remember, life is too short to wallow in self-pity, shame, and in stigma. Move forward, and find honor from your stigma and shame! The best is yet to come for you! Good luck!
